Steve Wilken served in the US Army during the turbulent
years of 1969-71, including 13 months stationed at
Long Binh, Vietnam. He later graduated from the
University of Texas at Arlington in 1975 with a BA in History
and Political Science Steve wrote the book Why
Didn't You Have To Go To Vietnam, Daddy? in 2007 when
events brought back memories that he no longer wished to
suppress. He hopes that telling this story now, even at
this late date, will help
a younger generation understand the forces that shaped
their parent's lives.
